Stainless steel 310/310s pipes

Stainless steel pipes of grade 310 are essentially stainless steel of medium carbon that can be used for higher temperature applications such as heat treatment equipment and parts of the furnace. The bearing temperature is 1035 degrees C in continuous service and can tolerate a temperature of 1150 degrees C in intermittent service. Compared to grade 310, 310S is often referred to as the low-carbon edition.

Grade 310/310s Properties

These grades consist of 20% nickel and 25% chromium. This is what makes it incredibly corrosion and oxidation resistant. Grade 310S is actually a low-carbon variant that is less flat than fragile. In facilities, it also exhibits sensitization. The highest and medium content of chromium and nickel makes stainless steel capable of minimizing the H2S-containing sulphuric atmosphere.

 

They are used in moderate carburizing atmospheres like in petrochemical environments. In more extreme atmospheres, heat resisting alloys are used. For quenching using frequent thermal shock liquids, grade 310 is not recommended at all. Due to poor magnetic permeability and hardness, this grade type is also exercised in cryogenic applications. These grades, in common with austenitic SS, are not at all hardened by heat treatment.
